Keyword Analysis

Visitors search on the major search engines for products and services that they seek. Often these search terms are entered in the form of a question, such as “how to optimise a website?”. Smart keyword optimisation is based on extensive analysis of the variety of known search keywords which Google, Yahoo, Bing and other important search engines, are most likely to have frequently visited and indexed. High page rankings will increase the likelihood of returning your site to search visitors, encouraging them to directly click onto your site products and/or services.

An all too common mistake made is to identify and focus on irrelevant or non-specific, generic keywords.

Example:

A client – a swimming pool company - requested our help to optimise their site for the keywords “swimming pools”. Despite being highly frequent search words(450,000 searches a month), the considerable cost, time and focus necessary to achieve top page results, would actually only produce a poor return.

The reason? Most people are actually searching for their local swimming pool not a supplier!

We identified that over 80% of their traffic was generated from specific keyphrases such as “certikin sealed beam light” as opposed to “pool lighting”. We changed tactics to focus on phrases relating to product types, supplier names, etc. This strategic approach has resulted in a first page listing for swimming pools along with all their long-tail phrases!

If you know what you're searching for, you are not vague or generic. You would enter the precise words into the search engine, e.g. "Audi A4 2.0TDI" - not just "cars".

It is our job at Provoke to ensure thorough keyword analysis is performed to identify the phrases and words which should generate for you the most efficient conversions for you business.

Remember- it's not as straightforward as you might think! The obvious is not necessarily the most effective!

  • Email Used More Than Social Networking!

While Social Media continues to explode around the planet, attracting all the attention and getting businesses keen to jump into the conversation, a recent survey reveals that for some groups, email is still their number one way of keeping in touch. Doubtless, this finding will draw a smug, ‘I told you so’, from those businesses and organisations who doggedly stick with their fax machines, snail mail franking, IE6 browsers and dial up broadband! But joking aside, social networking as an integrated social, business and personal communication tool is of course, not about to go away, more a case of email, having itself never really gone away, is reaffirmed as very much still here and booming, e.g. email marketing newsletters. • Windows SmartPhone 7 Calls Up Website RealTime

The launch of Microsoft’s latest version of its mobile phone operating system, Windows Phone 7, which pulls in real time content from websites and social networks, reaffirms that you must ensure your website is fully accessible with fresh content daily as the mobile internet gathers warp speed! You know the score by now – “you gotta be in it to win it!” Like a week in politics, a web month, is a long time! The newest operating platforms channel social media laterally across ‘personal, social and business’, providing what we want, when we want it – and if you’re not on the grid, you don’t exist!
