Online Marketing can perhaps be the saving grace to your online business. Many individuals out there have been making money by expanding their businesses online or simply just previewing their products and services through blogs or websites. Unfortunately, there are those who venture on the same journey, yet never live to see the day. These are also the same people who brand that internet marketing is just not the way to go.

Maybe they don't know of the four proven tips to getting massive traffic and jumpstart their business?

Joining forums can do a bit of advertising for your website. You simple have the signature file pointed to your blog or website. It is advisable that you stick with forum marketing for a long time because the longer you are in a forum, you build up credibility and more and more people know about you. It is only when you get to this point that your signature file will most likely be read and your advertising will start.

Posting comments on others blogs is another surefire way to get noticed. One of the benefits you can reap through this method is that every time you post a comment on someone's blog, you get back links to your website. This is a form of advertising because the more controversial you are with your comments, the more people will be interested to know about you and click on the link to your website. Back links can get you ranked higher with search engines making you more noticeable. Just like making back links to blogs, you can also do the same by posting comments through social directories.

How about submitting your articles in reputable article directories featured on the internet? Similar to making back links, you can post a resource or author box so that people who read your article will learn about you in the end. If they like what you've written or like who you are and what you do, they can simply click on your link and get directed to you. Choosing to submit articles through these submission services can help you get more of your articles distributed to other article directories.

Lastly, there is the pay per click method of advertising. The pay per click method is a great way to save money on advertising. They let you place bids on your keywords, generate traffic to your website, and you only have to pay when someone clicks on your ad. Best of all is that pay per click advertising delivers immediate results usually in about 24 hours.

Whether you pick one of these methods or use all of them, the choice is up to you. But with online businesses, the more methods you use to advertise your campaign, the better off you are. If you haven't been getting that much needed traffic, are ranked poorly, or your online business is simply going downhill, try these internet advertising tips.

Internet Video The New Face of Advertising

With broadband internet access being somewhat ubiquitous these days, the way we use the internet is changing. Since it's inception people have used the internet to seek out information. Today with technologies like blogging and video sharing beginning to mature, more and more people are more receptive to turning to the internet for entertainment, and not just information. With this change, and the advancing sophistication of ad-serving technology, online video advertising has seen huge growth in the past three years.

In 2004 online video advertising was a $121 million market. It is predicted that by the end of this year that the market for video ads online will have grown to $647 million/year. Companies like Google are showing their confidence in the market with their recent purchase of YouTube. The $1.7 billion deal to some was a bad idea, but Google is a company that has always looked towards the future, and they are banking on the idea that a portion of the $74 billion television advertising market will soon migrate to online ads. The three hundred percent growth in video advertising online show that Google has the right idea. Google already owns a good portion of online text advertising, it only makes sense for them to expand into video as the market for such advertising expands.

Since the industrial age began companies have sought ways to advertise their products. Television advertising, although expensive, gave them the ability to target certain markets and age groups. Video advertising online allows for even more targeted ads, and at a savings over traditional style ads.

In the past advertising via video meant huge costs. It would start with an advertising agency that came up with a concept. Then a production company made the ad, and finally to get your ad on prime time television an outlay of upwards of a few million dollars may have been required.

Advertising with online video costs less, and can be targeted to whatever demographic you want. A simple flash animation posted on the front of the latest breaking story on one of the larger news sites can generate more interest than the more expensive television ad ever could. Of course professionally produced ads can still be found online, and even ads that were originally made for television; but online video gives companies more flexibility to both budget and audience.

It is our interest in online video that is changing the way people communicate, the way we seek out information, and the way we are entertained. That huge growth in online viewing is changing the way companies advertise as well. Since its humble beginnings the internet has been changing our world. Online video is just the next step, and where business sees opportunity to reach people they always tend to follow.

What's the goal of your website?
Remember, the web is not just a marketing tool - it's a business tool as well. While it is perfectly okay to have an Internet billboard that simply contains contact information, why settle for that when your site can do so much more?

What's the goal of your website?

    To inform?

To build a community?

To gain valuable market research?

To reduce support and customer service costs?

To reach a broad audience with a message?

To find sales leads?

To conduct e-commerce?

To gain advertising revenue?

To brand your company?

To build trust?

To reduce printing and mailing costs?

These are just some of the many possibilities. Remember, the web is not just a marketing tool - it's a business tool as well. While it is perfectly okay to have an Internet billboard that simply contains contact information, why settle for that when your site can do so much more? Even the smallest local business can utilize the power of the Internet to be more efficient and to build revenue. Once you start thinking about it, it's easy to get excited about the potential for your site.

Identify your target audience

Narrow this definition down to fit your particular customers. It's time to think like your target audience.

What do they want to see?
What information do they need?
Why are they even visiting your site?

If you can't get into their mindset, organize an informal focus group and ask them what they want. It's that easy!

Let them poke around your current site and give you feedback. Usability issues can be identified during this process as well.

You may find you need a formal usability analysis, a redesign or new content sections. Sometimes it's even better to scrap the old site and start over from scratch. The important thing is that when you build a great site that keeps your users in mind, it will be easier to get good links, good rankings and all around good results. Your company and your customers will benefit - and best of all - you won't be as dependent on search engine rankings to meet your goals.

Instant Gratification

The world in which we live in becoming one of instant gratification, a "we want it now" approach to life. This trend is as applicable in the search engine industry as it is in the world as general.

The world in which we live in becoming one of instant gratification, a "we want it now" approach to life. This trend is as applicable in the search engine industry as it is in the world as general.

Not so long ago if you needed to find something your options were fairly limited, in the days of Yellow pages domination you were restricted in the type of searches you performed. If you had an car crash and wanted to claim against the other party you would look up solicitors in the yellow pages and find an advert that caught your eye and give them a call.

For many of us this category type search has become ingrained into our decision making, we have grown up with it and understand how it works and even today many of the online directories employ the same type of categories.
However a new form of search for the internet generation is now being applied, a search that is based on problems not solutions. Where as you used to rely on the user having a rough idea to the type of solution and therefore category they were looking for, the new generation of internet searches are finding solutions be using the problem as the search basis.

For example instead of searching for a solicitor because you have a car accident, the search would be "road accident " or "car crash claim". This type of search allows the searcher to find exact information and solutions for their problems, without having to find a solicitor and then find out if they can help with Car Accidents.

People are using the major search engines as an instant directory, they expect to find a solution to there problem on the first page they click on and not have to search through a website to find the appropriate section.

It is important that you reflect this and makes sure that you are delivering the results to them and not for example sending them to your home page and asking them to find the solution for themselves from there.

With all marketing both on and offline it is about understanding your audience and adapting to their requirements, finding good ways to communicate about your product or service in nautral language.

So clearly identify who you are trying to market too and then decide the best route to them whether a category type approach is appropriate or the longer tail approach will produce better results. It might be that you need a strategy that encompasses both to maximie your online marketing.
